SUMMARY:No Country for Old Men
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Rugged and remote are two words that unequivocally describe No Country for Old Men. NCOM is a 1000 mile\, 383 mile and 208 mile ultra bicycle race held in the vast region of West Texas. It is secluded and absent of the modern world’s commercialization. Less than 10% of the route actually has cell service. \nIt’s namesake stems from the Corman McCarthy novel by the same name. \nNo Country for Old Men is truly a race of endurance as well as physical and mental challenge. NCOM is born from RAAM experience. You will discover parts of the route that are reminiscent of the moonscape terrain of Tuba City and Kayenta\, climbs similar to the Yarnell Grade and the wide open vastness of the Colorado plains. Enjoy the ugly beauty\, appreciate the desolation and respect the ruggedness of this immense land.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator][vc_column_text] \nED TOM BELL 208\nThe Ed Tom Bell 208 mile race is an opportunity for those rookie ultra cyclists who may have never previously ridden their bikes over 100 mile but are now ready to step into the realm of ultra cycling. Experienced ultra cyclists and rookie alike can enjoy this scenic challenge. The Ed Tom Bell is a UMCA World Cup event.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator][vc_column_text] \nANTON CHIGURH 383\nThe Anton Chigurh 383 racers will head to Study Butte from Kokernot Park and will then enter Big Bend National Park where they will race the scenic Ross Maxwell road down to Castolon. They will reach the highest point of the race as they climb the Chisos Basin with its’ breath taking vistas. After traveling past Panther Junction the racers head to Marathon and then return to Alpine. From Alpine they race to Ft. Davis and ride the very scenic and challenging McDonalds Observatory loop. The racers return to Alpine following the loop to conclude their race. With nearly 19\,000 veritical feet of climbing with elevations up to 6000′\, the Anton Chigurh will provide a true test of endurance for the racers. Solo finishers of the Anton Chigurh 383 within the 32-hour time limit will become RAAM qualified. The 383 is a UMCA World Cup event.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator][vc_column_text] \nLLEWLYN MOSS 1000\nThe Llewlyn Moss 1000 race is the premier 1000-mile ultra race in America. The route follows the same route as the 383 for the first 260 miles where they arrive in Alpine. From Alpine the 1000 mile racers head to Marfa\, Ft. Davis and then race the challenging McDonalds Obervatory loop. Returning to Alpine\, the racers then head West again to take in Marathon\, Sanderson\, Dryden\, Ft Stockton and back to Marathon. They head back toward Big Bend National Park where they race down the eerie and legendary La Linda highway. Leaving La Linda they head back to Panther Junction through the Park\, once again travel the Ross Maxwell Scenic road\, Study Butte and conclude back at Alpine. The 1000 mile race has over 41\,000 vertical feet of climbing. The 1000 mile race is truly an elite ultra event made for elite ultra racers. Solo finishers of the 1000 mile race within the 96 hour time limit will be Race Across America Qualified. The 1000 is a UMCA World Cup event.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_cta h2=”Crew Up for NCOM” txt_align=”center” shape=”square” style=”custom” add_button=”bottom” btn_title=”BOOK FINISH LINE” btn_style=”custom” btn_custom_background=”#0071ce” btn_custom_text=”#ffffff” btn_shape=”square” btn_size=”lg” btn_align=”center” custom_background=”#f8d44c” custom_text=”#ffffff” btn_link=”url:%2Fbook-us%2F|title:BOOK%20US|” btn_add_icon=”true” btn_smooth_scroll=”true” btn_button_block=”true”][/vc_cta][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:HooDoo 500/300
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Hoodoo 500 route passes through or around three National Parks\, three National Monuments and several Utah State Parks. The scenery varies from majestic cliffs and striking red rock hoodoos to aspen and pine forests and high mountain meadows. All the best of Utah’s Color Country! \nGeologically speaking\, hoodoos are tall\, skinny spires of rock that protrude from the bottom of arid basins and sedimentary rock. Mystically speaking\, hoodoo means a magical spell; which is what the Hoodoo 500 experience will cast upon you. Come test yourself\, and bring your lucky mojo… \nAmazing scenery\, quiet roads\, epic climbs\, exhilarating descents\, and the best post-event banquet with awards and prizes.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator][vc_column_text] \nHOODOO 300\nThe Hoodoo 300 is the perfect introduction to ultra distance cycling. Challenge yourself beyond a double century. Learn to work with a crew; or fend for yourself in remote locations. Meet the 500 riders. Ask them questions\, hear their stories\, get inspired. Join the fun. It’s a great event on a great route surrounded by the most wonderful group of new friends you didn’t know you had.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator][vc_column_text] \nHOODOO 500\nNot a single inch of the route is repeated. The scenery is amazing. The route goes through\, around or by three National Parks: Zion\, Bryce and Capitol Reef; three National Monuments: Pipe Springs\, Grand Staircase-Escalante and Cedar Breaks; countless Utah State Parks including Anasazi\, Coral Pink Sand Dunes\, Kodachrome and Snow Canyon\, and meanders in and out of the Dixie National Forest. \nOther than the very short stretches of road getting in and out of St. George and Cedar City\, and the ten or so miles before Panguitch\, traffic on over ninety-eight percent of the route is virtually non-existent. There are only a handful of traffic lights and stop signs\, and zero urban blight. \nRoad conditions are stellar! Utah takes wonderful care of their roads and highways. Generally speaking\, the pavement is smooth\, without potholes or expansion gaps or long stretches of rough road where cracks have been filled in but remain bumpy and uneven. The roads are virtually litter and glass free![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_cta h2=”Crew Up for Hoodoo 500″ txt_align=”center” shape=”square” style=”custom” add_button=”bottom” btn_title=”BOOK FINISH LINE” btn_style=”custom” btn_custom_background=”#0071ce” btn_custom_text=”#ffffff” btn_shape=”square” btn_size=”lg” btn_align=”center” custom_background=”#f8d44c” custom_text=”#ffffff” btn_link=”url:%2Fbook-us%2F|title:BOOK%20US|” btn_button_block=”true” btn_add_icon=”true” btn_smooth_scroll=”true”][/vc_cta][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:Race Across Oregon
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Race Across Oregon was founded in 1998 when the cancellation of Alaska’s Midnight Sun 600k left a gap in founder George Thomas’s racing calendar. The “race” became a fundraiser for the Epilepsy Foundation of Oregon and made the front page of The Oregonian newspaper. When a reporter asked the name of the event\, the first thing that came to mind “Race Across Oregon.” It has since raised a lot of money for the foundation and was made an annual event. \nWith an extensive background competing in Race Across America\, George thinks it is important that racers interested in RAAM can participate in an event that provided some of the difficulties one faces during a 12-day coast-to-coast race. \nRace Across Oregon features hot and dry weather and almost 42\,000 feet of climbing over the 522 mile course. The RAO route follows roads that escapes Willamette Valley rain and completes many epic training rides.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_cta h2=”Crew Up for Race Across Oregon” txt_align=”center” shape=”square” style=”custom” add_button=”bottom” btn_title=”BOOK FINISH LINE” btn_style=”custom” btn_custom_background=”#0071ce” btn_custom_text=”#ffffff” btn_shape=”square” btn_size=”lg” btn_align=”center” custom_background=”#f8d44c” custom_text=”#ffffff” btn_link=”url:%2Fbook-us%2F|title:BOOK%20US|” btn_button_block=”true” btn_add_icon=”true” btn_smooth_scroll=”true”][/vc_cta][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:Race Across the West
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Race Across the West (RAW) was started in 2008 to offer a race longer than 500 miles and to help bridge the mileage gap to RAAM. It has since evolved into an epic race in its own right\, and is the second longest RAAM qualifier in the USA that draws racers from around the world. \nRAW follows the first 860 miles of the RAAM course\, from Oceanside\, CA to Durango\, CO and starts alongside the RAAM solo racers. Traversing some of the most beautiful country in the west\, RAW leaves the beach in Oceanside\, climbs the Coastal Range and the drops into the scorching desert. After crossing the deserts of California and Arizona\, racers begin a gradual climb into the mountains surrounding Flagstaff\, AZ and eventually into the Rocky Mountains. The race finishes on the Animas River in the cycling mecca of Durango\, CO. \nThere is no other qualifier that crosses four states\, offers the diversity in terrain and climate and races alongside the Solo RAAM racers. RAW is the perfect race to test your mettle or hone your skills for racing RAAM.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_cta h2=”Crew Up for Race Across the West” txt_align=”center” shape=”square” style=”custom” add_button=”bottom” btn_title=”BOOK FINISH LINE” btn_style=”custom” btn_custom_background=”#0071ce” btn_custom_text=”#ffffff” btn_shape=”square” btn_size=”lg” btn_align=”center” custom_background=”#f8d44c” custom_text=”#ffffff” btn_link=”url:%2Fbook-us%2F|title:BOOK%20US|” btn_button_block=”true” btn_add_icon=”true” btn_smooth_scroll=”true”][/vc_cta][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:SoCal RAAM Challenge
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The event starts/finishes at Mance Buchanon Park in Oceanside. Both routes utilize portions of the RAAM route and both climb Mt. Palomar. The SoCal Challenge has the most varied geography of any ultra-event in the world. Steep mountains\, valleys and desert. The weather is generally very good: 60-80 F temps on the coast with orange groves and avocado orchards; 50-70 ˚F in the mountains with oaks and pines; and 80-100 ˚F in the desert with ocotillo\, cholla\, yucca and other cactus. \nThe cycling in Southern California is fabulous – extremely diverse. The topography is the most varied of any cycling event we know – avocado orchards and orange groves\, the ridges and valleys of the Coast Range\, the Anza-Borrego Desert – and the weather is beautiful this time of year.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_cta h2=”Crew Up for RAAM California” txt_align=”center” shape=”square” style=”custom” add_button=”bottom” btn_title=”BOOK FINISH LINE” btn_style=”custom” btn_custom_background=”#0071ce” btn_custom_text=”#ffffff” btn_shape=”square” btn_size=”lg” btn_align=”center” custom_background=”#f8d44c” custom_text=”#ffffff” btn_link=”url:%2Fbook-us%2F|title:BOOK%20US|” btn_button_block=”true” btn_add_icon=”true” btn_smooth_scroll=”true”][/vc_cta][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:Texas RAAM Challenge
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The event starts/finishes at City Park in Marble Falls\, 30 miles west of Austin\, the Live Music Capital of the World\, home to SXSW\, the largest music festival in the world. Texas\, the Lone Star State\, is ranch country. \nThe Texas Challenge features the best of the famed Texas Hill Country. There are lots of deer\, water crossings and cattle guards. It’s spring time in the Hill Country and the flowers – Blue Bonnets and Indian Paint Brush – will be blooming. Temps are generally 50-80 ˚F. Mornings can be foggy with clearing by afternoon. \nThe 200- and 400-mile routes are roughly concentric loops\, sharing the first 88 miles and the last 64 miles. There are thousands of miles of paved winding ranch roads with little or no traffic. You’ll experience some of the best cycling in the USA. Both the 200 and 400-mile courses are moderately difficult – ideally suited to advanced beginning to intermediate level ultra-racers. \nThe RAAM Texas Challenge is part of the 6-event Texas Ultra Cup.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator][vc_column_text] \n200-MILE\nThe 200-mile route is challenging – 214 miles with 10\,389’ of climbing. The course lies entirely within the Hill Country – many small ranches. The Climbing is distributed fairly evenly throughout the route. The 200-mile racers head west through Comfort to Kerrville\, where they turn north and pass west of Fredericksburg and east to Willow City.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator][vc_column_text] \n400-MILE\nThe 400-mile route is similarly challenging – 389 miles with 18\,902’ of climbing. The northern and eastern half of the route is within the Hill Country. The southern and western half of the route is within what is known as Southwest Texas – more remote\, larger ranches\, with several long steep climbs. The 400-mile race is the first RAAM Qualifier of the domestic ultra-racing season. It is also a great warm-up for racers and crew planning on doing RAAM in June. The 400-mile course continues south to Boerne. At Boerne the riders head west through Bandera\, Medina\, Vanderpool and Leakey to Camp Wood. This part of the course is semi-arid ranch country and features several steep climbs. From here racers head north and east through Mountain Home\, Harper and Cherry Spring on the way to Willow City.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_cta h2=”Crew Up for RAAM Texas” txt_align=”center” shape=”square” style=”custom” add_button=”bottom” btn_title=”BOOK FINISH LINE” btn_style=”custom” btn_custom_background=”#0071ce” btn_custom_text=”#ffffff” btn_shape=”square” btn_size=”lg” btn_align=”center” custom_background=”#f8d44c” custom_text=”#ffffff” btn_link=”url:%2Fbook-us%2F|title:BOOK%20US|” btn_button_block=”true” btn_add_icon=”true” btn_smooth_scroll=”true”][/vc_cta][/vc_column][/vc_row]
