Happy Spring!
The mourning doves are nesting on our house and it is still raining. I know it’ll stop and warm up soon and to that, I’m looking forward. I bet you are, too. In the meantime, I’m relying heavily on my rain gear…
It has been a good while since my last journal entry. I’ve been focused on my riding and fitness, as well as my professional life. I just completed a 100km ride which was just what was needed as my first rung of the endurance ladder. I am climbing back to long distance events slowly but surely.
Michael and I have been deeply involved (either crewing or racing) with RAAM/RAW for six of the last eight years and we agreed both of us need a break this June. We are taking a sabbatical from crewing RAAM/RAW this year. Our love of the event and the wonderful, inspiring RAAM/RAW community will draw us to Oceanside in June, however. In 2019, we will be happy spectators, along with Brian Hidy, our cousin and crew member-extraordinaire on last year’s RAW crew for Jason Ingels.
Finish Line Ultra Crewing is booked for this year’s Silver State 508. Michael is coming back for a solo journey and his sixth finish. Our crew for this outing will be Borut Osojnik, Rich Jarrin, and myself as crew chief. Borut hails from Slovenia and is a RAAM/RAW experienced driver and all-around great human. Rich is an excellent bike mechanic and seasoned cyclist and I look forward to his first (hopefully of many voyages!) voyage out with Finish Line Ultra Crewing.
I hope you all are enjoying 2019 thus far and keep reaching for your goals & dreams. That’s the spark of life!
Tailwinds,
Tina
