June 6, 2017
Here we are in the first week of June, the high holy month of ultra-cycling. Yours truly has been hard at work preparing to support Finish Line Ultra Crewing’s client for Race Across the West, James Jason Ingels. Jason is from Orlando, Florida and has completed many ultra cycling events including the SS508 and multiple Sebring 24hr events. He is ready to challenge himself at this year’s RAW.
I am so grateful for the talented, upbeat, and motivated crew that have signed on for this journey. Through all our training sessions, it is clear that we have an extraordinary team. A huge shout out to Michael Svihura, who is an absolute electronics & logistics guru; to Kelly Rogers, who is RAW-experienced with superb “people” & logistical skills; to Don Fabiano, who is also RAW (and RAAM!)-experienced with excellent driving skills and an unwavering sense of humor; and finally to Nicole Weger, whose medical, care-giving, and attention-to-detail skills are second to none. I am also grateful for Brandy Ingels, Jason’s wife who completes our crew and brings with her tremendous ultra-crewing experience and talents.
A good race is a courteous, safe race. We here at Finish Line Ultra Crewing base all we do on safety, professionalism, empathy, and preparedness. We know local drivers may not be very excited to see us in our slow-moving follow van (of course, only between the hours of 1900-0700). A smile and a wave go a long way to hopefully ease their frustration and maybe even interest them in the race.
James Jason Ingels has been training hard and smart and is ready to “Go Across” (at least to Durango) We as crew are excited, motivated, and pumped up to help get him there!
See you out there!
Tailwinds,
-Tina
